Staten Island sophisticate Andrew Milligan surveyed the salacious lifestyle of the swinging set in his gritty Depraved! (1967). To no surprise, he sees them as sexually and emotionally dysfunctional sociopaths.  In other words, like everyone else. Robert Burgos (The Degenerates), Anne Linden and Carol Vogel from The Ghastly Ones, and Milligan's Garbo, Hope Stansbury from The Rats Are Coming! The Werewolves Are Here! swap partners, seduce in-laws, drop acid, and assault one another for 75 minutes of Milligan mayhem. Actor/writer Josef Bush (The Naked Witch) has his head shoved into a toilet, and Linden's character leaps out a window to her death (a  scenario that would be revisited in Milligan's Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me! from the following year). Unfortunately, unlike the latter film, Depraved! is still considered lost.

The director for most of the memorably bizarre 1975 horror feature The Love Butcher was B-movie actor Mikel Angel (Angels Die Hard), but his cut was so disjointed that Don Jones of Schoolgirls In Chains was brought in to finish it. James Lemp (aka Erik Stern of WarGames) is Caleb, a handicapped halfwit who labors as a gardener for wealthy Los Angeles suburbanites. Verbally abused by his female employers, Caleb voices his frustrations to brother Lester, a toupee on a styrofoam wig stand. While wearing the wig, Caleb becomes his imaginary brother, a suave seducer who uses gardening tools to exact bloody revenge on his tormentors. With Robin Sherwood from Tourist Trap and The Mighty Gorga alumnus John Parker.

Originally released as 50,000 B.C., the 1963 nudie cutie Nudes On The Rocks imagines a time machine that transports Charlie Wishnik (burlesque comedian Charlie Robinson), a trailer park loser,  to prehistoric days. There he encounters cavemen, naked cave women, and a carnivorous giant (tall Eddie Carmel from The Brain That Wouldn't Die). Directed by William Rose (Rent-a-Girl) with assistance from Arnold Drake (writer and co-producer of The Flesh Eaters), its feeble setup results in sub-par comedy routines peppered with forgotten burlesque queens and New York skin stars Gigi Darlene from Doris Wishman's Bad Girls Go To Hell, Jackie Miller (Rose's The Smut Peddler), and "Madame Olga" herself, Audrey Campbell, as libidinous stone-age sweeties. In a dual role, Julie Ange (Teenage Mother) is both Mrs. Wishnik and Cave Woman Queen. Producer Herbert Lannard was behind other Rose projects such as Professor Lust.

Miami strip club owner Leroy Griffith produced the 1964 Lullaby Of Bareland, three short films that comprise the tale of an unnamed married couple (singularly credited Charles Aldrich and Dolores Carlos of southern Florida exploitation fame) who get their kicks solo. His diversion is a strip show, leading to burlesque reels starring freakishly endowed peeler Virginia Bell (Bell, Bare & Beautiful). Meanwhile, his wife visits a nudist camp where the big attraction is busty stripper Ann Howe (Strange Rampage). Both were directed by Florida legend Manuel Conde, while a third, “The Super’s Dream,” was an addition from Six She’s And A He producer Frank Malagon. Also with Dawn Meredith from Honeymoon Of Horror, Maria Stinger (Diary Of A Nudist), and The Beatlettes. The nudist segment was filmed at the long-gone Coral Lakes Health Resort of Coral Gables.

Originally titled La morte ha fatto l'uovo ("Death Laid an Egg"), director/co-writer Giulio Questi (Django Kill...If You Live, Shoot!) examines the more monstrous aspects of consumer society as a sociopathic poultry farm manager (Jean-Louis Trintignant from My Night at Maud's), his wife (Gina The Lonely Woman Lollobrigida), and assistant (Ewa Aulin, Candy herself) are caught in a ruthless power struggle over the factory's ownership. More Dada than surreal, Questi and co-writer/editor Franco Arcalli's tale of corporate corruption features kinky sex, murder, and a headless chicken.Django Kill... If You Live, Shoot!)

U.K. glamour photographer George Harrison Marks began his film career with featurettes such as the horror/nudie hybrid Nightmare At Elm Manor before moving into features. Naked As Nature Intended was his first, starring his business partner and paramour Pamela Green (Peeping Tom) along with Marks' models Jackie Salt and Petrina Forsyth as three friends who vacation in Cornwall. Their travelog-style adventures culminate with an introduction to two nudists (Bridget Leonard of My Seven Little Bares and Angela It's A Bare Bare World Jones) who introduce them to Spielplatz (German for "playground"), a famed naturist colony in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Crown International distributed it stateside.

Filmed in London, Gerry O'Hara's portrait of three female roommates in the swinging sixties, The Pleasure Girls (1965) was issued in both domestic and "export" versions, the latter featuring brief nudity and a vicious beating. Neither is the exploitation film promised by the campaign, but instead a relatively realistic look at the era's seismic cultural shifts in gender relations. It starred Francesca Annis from Roman Polanski's Macbeth as Sally, an aspiring model, with Anneke Wills from the Dr. Who television series and Suzanna Leigh from Hammer Films' Lust For A Vampire. Creepy Klaus Kinski (Dr. Mabuse vs Scotland Yard) is a corrupt landlord, and Ian McShane (Cheaper To Keep Her) is Sally's horny love interest. Note that the Times Film campaign misspells "paid."

Edward D. Wood, Jr.'s 1954 crime tale is an early feature from a Grade Z filmmaker whose incompetently made movies are often more entertaining than their mainstream rivals.  Alas, this isn't one of them. It concerns a young hood named Don (Clancy Malone, the assistant director of Wood's previous Glen Or Glenda?) who learns the hard way not to hang out with hardened criminals such as Vic Brady (oily Timothy Farrell from Test Tube Babies). Lyle Talbot (She Shoulda Said 'No"!) and future Superman Steve Reeves are cops, with Mona McKinnon from Mesa Of Lost Women as a witness to murder. Also from Mesa is cartoon scorer Hoyt Curtin's maddeningly repetitious flamenco guitar. Featuring a plastic surgery finale that could only have been hatched by the mind of Ed Wood.

Originally titled Amok, Dinos Dimopoulos' 1963 thriller follows the travails of a group of female prison escapees who seek refuge on a deserted island only to find it under siege by a ruthless band of treasure hunters led by an ex-Nazi who had slaughtered the family of one of the escaped women. It starred the director's wife Floretta Zana (Amaryllis) along with Zeta Apostolou (Stay Cool, Napoleon!) and Maria Bonelou (A Greek Woman In The Harem). U.S. distributor Zenith International was primarily known for arty imports such as the film version of Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit. As with yesterday's entry, director William Rotsler's 1968 hippie horror Mantis In Lace was first released as a sexploitation feature. But the boxoffice for Lila was disappointing, so co-producers Harry Novak, Sanford White (Auntie's Secret Society), and Peter Perry Jr. (My Tale Is Hot) excised much of the T&A, cooked up a horror campaign with a creepier title lifted from Vic Lance's theme tune, and sold the result as psychedelic drive-in fodder. Red-headed Susan Stewart (The First Nudie Musical) is Lila, a go-go dancer on the Sunset Strip who freaks out on LSD, hallucinates fruit, and uses household tools for purposes for which they were not intended. Also with Pat Barrington (Monica's Thing), Steve Vincent from Suburban Pagans, and Russ Meyer drinking buddy Stuart Lancaster (Godmonster Of Indian Flats). Soft porn filmmakers Paul Hunt (The Harem Bunch) and Rotsler himself can be spotted as patrons of Lila's strip club.
