New York distributor William The Ghastly Ones Mishkin pitched a whittled down, English-dubbed version of Gueule d'ange, a seven-year-old French potboiler about an amoral gigolo dubbed "Angel Face" (Maurice Ronet from Louis Malle's classier Elevator to the Gallows) who meets his match in vivacious Viviane Romance from Julian Duvivier's Panique as the femme fatale Loïna. It also featured Agnes Laurent, Paul Demange, Elaine Dana, and Dora Doll, all from the 1957 sex comedy Mademoiselle Striptease; as well as France Roche from the curio Nude In His Pocket and Collette French Erection Mareuil. Director Marcel Blisténe's modest filmography includes everything from saucy comedies to historical drama and is capped by feature films starring cherished songbird Edith Piaf.
