Director Paul A*P*E* Leder's sophomore feature starred Zooey Hall from The Young Animals as Albert, a repressed, woman-hating psychopath who kidnaps young Annie (Geri Reischl of The Brotherhood of Satan) after raping and killing her mother (Marlene Tracy from Alan Rudolph's Terror Circus). When the obliquely titled film bombed in its initial 1972 release, Europix International reissued it as I Dismember Mama paired with Vincente Aranda's "Carmilla"-inspired La novia ensangrentada (aka The Blood Spattered Bride). Also with Elaine Partnow, later in Leder's follow-up My Friends Need Killing, and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman co-star Greg Mullavey as a deadpan detective. The sicko screenplay was from screenwriter and activist William W. Norton (The Scalphunters). Featuring the songs "I Just Want to Be With You" and "Poor Albert," written and performed by Rocket Roden and WONDERCLAM on Laurel Records.
